  want to hear the latest debacle?

  the po in my mom's congregation told them that at the next 1-day-assembly it will be the responsibility of every publisher to put 3 in the box towards the running costs at the assembly hall.

  kp138 , Welcome to the forum ,

  I am so sorry to hear of the pain your Father must have been going through to take his own life . For many older ones there comes a point they realize what they have believed for so long is just not all it is cracked up to be. You can not blame yourself .....I think he just really believed the Witness rheoric that the system would end before he aged ,and he was caught unprepared .

  I too grew up as a JW raised on the horror stories of Nazi persecution and then the Malawi massacres .....I suffered panic attacks ,anxiety and depression for years . Finding this forum and reading similar stories as my own has helped me so much .I am not alone ,and neither are you ! If you have not read it yet I highly suggest reading Crisis of Conscience . That book really helped me let go of any residual guilt or lingering questions about the Witnesses.

  thats atleast 10 years..i am dealing with the lil ones and knock knock...i open the door to find a witness at the door all pretty and smiles... told her to hold on one second and made the dog quite down..she started her spill and i was like ..don't mean to be rude but born and raised a jw.

  ..so first words are ?

  ?...wait all at once...are you dfed ?...nope i just choose not to go..asked my name a couple times and encouraged me to come to meetings.

  I am so happy for you and your family that you are now enjoying a real life !

  Your story was very touching and something I totally relate to . I can't believe how many of us faced the same kind of trials as children growing up in that religion . It is sickening that our Parents were so blinded that their own natural affection for their children was jeapordized ......sad,sad,sad.

  how to tell elders we dont wana go anymore leave us alone,

  stoped goin over a year ago now, been bugged ever since,iv just sent em away with im ill to tierd goin out what ever excuse i could think of to get em off my back,.

  im a big wimp so is my husband, every time the elder turns up we go yer yer come next week what ever and wel sort sumat out.

  which we dont mean its our brain washed mind talking and its very weak,.

  Good heavens Woman your old enough to stop being pushed around in your own home !

  Quit being so wishy washy . The next time they come to your home unannounced and uninvited : Look them in the eye , and without a word point them to the road ........SHUT THE DOOR .

  Stop being so nice and trying to appease them . They obviously don't CARE what you think because they have ignored your words so far . You have asked for time to sort it out yet they continue to come back .That is not kindness ,that is them trying to wear you down .

  When you don't stick to your words they take that to mean your easy pickings .

  It IS as simple as saying : " Stop coming by or calling . I will ring YOU if I need anything . "

  Don't say anymore just keep repeating that simple statement until they leave.

  i just found out that i have breast cancer on thursday (see topic http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/medical/190249/1/i-was-in-the-hospital ).

  my sister has breast cancer too.

  she has had it longer than me.

  just had 2 elders invite me to my judicial meeding about my marriage of two years.

  they think my husband was not legaly divorced.

  but he was and i had 3 lawyers tell me he was.

  IT is VERY important you do not attend the JC ,since you have already been inactive a year, if you now bow to their invitation it shows to them that you still look to them as authority over you !!!

  Get a letter from your lawyer stating you are in fact legally married . Send it certified to the body of Elders . If it were me I would also send along a note telling them any future discussion of the matter would be considered slander by you.They would not want their names drawn into a law suit ,however you will do what it takes ....

  I Miss Field Service!

  yep, i miss those good old field service days but now i'm not allowed to join in the house to house work.

  so i've decided to do what i was taught to do instead; letter writing.. i'm going to take the money i once contributed to the kingdom hall and buy stamps with it.

  then i'll give a good witness to many in my area or in my state or across the country.

  You could start going door to door selling Avon . Between houses stop in at the local gas station for a donut and cup of coffee !
